Ramaswamy and Wojcicki, who’ve both shared the title of SVP, Ads & Commerce, have been jointly running the ads division for the last year. The transition from being co-leader to sole leader of the team should be a smooth one for Ramaswamy.
A graduate of Brown University, Ramaswamy joined Google in 2003 as a software engineer and has been involved on the ads side throughout his decade-long tenor.
He’s been heavily involved in leading development on payment products, AdWords, and Google’s two biggest moves on the ads side in recent years: Google Shopping’s transition to a paid platform in 2012 and the ushering in of Enhanced Campaigns last year.
